Ethereum Transaction Volume Hits Historic Monthly Peak
The Ethereum ecosystem recorded its highest monthly transaction volume on record in October. Data indicates that combined activity across the Ethereum mainnet and multiple layer 2 networks set a new benchmark, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth.
Layer 2 Networks Drive Growth
Over the past 30 days, activity was led by three main networks. Base, a prominent layer 2 blockchain, registered as the most transacted chain in the Ethereum ecosystem. Although Bases transaction count fell by 7.4% from the previous month, it achieved a 57% increase over the last six months. This growth reflects its consolidation as a key network within Ethereum.
Arbitrum One, another recognized layer 2 platform, reported 93.1 million transactions during the period. Soneium followed in third place, reaching 66.3 million transactions, with a notable 38% monthly increase and continued long-term growth.
Activity on Ethereum Mainnet
The Ethereum mainnet processed 44.2 million transactions in October. Despite a 6.4% decline compared to the previous month, base layer activity contributed substantially to the ecosystems overall performance.
Ongoing Ecosystem Expansion
The latest figures highlight the continued expansion of Ethereums transaction activity, particularly through layer 2 solutions. This sustained increase underscores the role of scaling technologies in supporting higher throughput and broader network usage.
