Bitcoin Dominance Declines as Analysts Watch for Altcoin Season
Bitcoins market share has declined over recent months, prompting some analysts to suggest that an altcoin seasona period when alternative cryptocurrencies outperform Bitcoincould be approaching. However, market sentiment and key indicators present a complex outlook.

Bitcoins dominance, which tracks its share of the overall crypto market capitalization, has dropped by 5.13% over the past six months and stands at 59.90%, according to TradingView data. Analyst Matthew Hyland highlighted in a recent X post that this trend appears bearish, describing a recent relief rally as a dead cat bounce. Hyland suggested the movement could increase confidence in altcoin price action in the near future.
Market Reactions and Analyst Perspectives
Hyland also speculated in a separate video that traditional financial institutions may have influenced recent Bitcoin price volatility, aiming to set themselves up strategically. Despite these claims, Bitcoins price performance has stirred market uncertainties. On November 4, Bitcoin fell below $100,000 for the first time in four months, triggering broader questions about future price directions. As of publication, Bitcoin is trading at $102,090, per CoinMarketCap.
Indicators Signal Mixed Outlook
While some analysts anticipate a shift towards altcoins, broader market indicators do not yet confirm a full transition. The Altcoin Season Index from CoinMarketCap currently sits at 28 out of 100, a level considered to reflect ongoing Bitcoin Season. The last indication of Altcoin Season came on October 8, shortly after Bitcoin reached a record high of $125,100, before a subsequent market crash reversed sentiment and market flows.
Outlook for Altcoin Season
According to Maen Ftouni, CEO of CoinQuant, the next altcoin season might not mirror previous cycles. Instead, he expects capital flows to concentrate on a narrower range of assets, particularly those associated with established or upcoming exchange-traded funds. Liquidity is going to be concentrated into certain places, dinosaurs being one of them, Ftouni remarked, emphasizing that not all altcoins may benefit equally from the next rotation.
As Bitcoins dominance declines, the debate over the timing and scope of the next altcoin season remains ongoing, with analysts and indicators offering divergent perspectives.
