World Liberty Financial Eyes Public Listing for Crypto Treasury

World Liberty Financial is preparing to launch a publicly listed digital asset treasury, targeting $1.5 billion in a move that spotlights the growing use of crypto-backed corporate treasuries. The company's plan joins a trend seen among ecosystems such as Ethereum, BNB, Dogecoin, and PENGU, which have integrated crypto assets into their balance sheets.

Company Structure and Token Backing

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, World Liberty Financial is in advanced discussions with prominent investors in the technology and crypto sectors. The proposed deal, still undergoing finalization, would involve a listed company holding the ventures native WLFI tokens. World Liberty Financial initially issued WLFI as a non-transferable governance token, but it now trades openly. The token operates in tandem with USD1, a fully-backed US dollar stablecoin, currently reporting a $2.2 billion market cap. USD1 claims full backing by US treasuries and cash, and it is regulated under the new Genius Stablecoin Bill, supporting cross-chain functionality.

Trump Family and Stablecoin Policy

The Trump family features prominently, with Donald Trump acting as honorary founder and his sons playing key roles in the venture. The family's increasing involvement in crypto includes digital asset mining and the recent filing for a Truth Social Bitcoin ETF, aiming for a NYSE listing. This reflects a broader pro-crypto agenda, with policy signals encouraging institutional participation in digital asset markets.

Treasury Model Growth and Industry Risks

The move positions World Liberty Financial in line with a wider market trend. Crypto-based treasury firms have traditionally focused on Bitcoin and, more recently, Ethereum. Now a wave of similar strategies appears around emerging tokens such as WLFI. This trend relies on raising investor funds to buy and hold large cryptocurrency reserves on public company balance sheets, hoping for value appreciation to benefit shareholders.

However, industry participants note that models involving less-liquid assets carry higher market and execution risks. Deep markets like Bitcoin offer relative liquidity, while tokens such as WLFI could see greater volatility, especially under market stress.

Outlook for 2025

World Liberty Financial's $1.5 billion fundraising goal draws attention amid speculation around stablecoin growth, shifting regulations, and political endorsements. As the company finalizes its structure and investor lineup, this initiative highlights the convergence between crypto market innovation and mainstream financial practices, shaping one of 2025s key investment narratives.
