Tokenized US Equities to Debut on Telegram Wallet

Wallet in Telegram, a third-party crypto wallet service available through the Telegram app, will soon enable its users to invest in tokenized versions of major US equities. This new service will roll out through xStocks, following a partnership between Wallet in Telegram, US-based crypto exchange Kraken, and tokenization platform Backed.

Initial Rollout Targets Emerging Markets

The partnership will allow Wallet in Telegram users to access more than 60 tokenized US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by the end of 2025. The rollout begins in October, with an initial selection of 35 tokenized assets, including shares mirrored after prominent companies such as MicroStrategy, Nvidia, Circle, Coinbase, Robinhood, and TON Strategy.

Although the offering focuses on US securities, the rollout will begin in selected emerging markets. Wallet in Telegrams spokesperson stated that the integration aims to prioritize access in developing economies, following Backeds existing tokenization approach. The company has not disclosed specific counties for the initial launch.

Regulatory and Compliance Measures

According to the company, each tokenized equity offered through xStocks will be fully backed 1:1 by the corresponding asset. The spokesperson emphasized that xStocks are issued under a compliant prospectus, with detailed investor disclosures provided. These measures, the company argues, help differentiate xStocks from other tokenized securities on the market.

  • Bitcoin ETFs will not be available on xStocks within Wallet in Telegram.
  • Users can still access Bitcoin as a crypto asset via the apps custodial wallet feature.

Trading tokenized equities and ETFs within the Wallet in Telegram app will be commission-free until the end of 2025, though withdrawal fees will apply.

Further Expansion and Context

The partnership's launch follows similar integrations by Backed with other platforms such as Alchemy Pay. The announcement comes as Telegram founder Pavel Durov publicly discussed his early adoption of Bitcoin, highlighting the growing intersection of messaging platforms and digital asset investment.

The expansion of tokenized equities on social apps like Telegram underscores continuing efforts to broaden global access to traditional financial markets using blockchain technology.
