Short-Term Ethereum Wallets Signal Return of Buying Pressure
Recent data shows short-term Ethereum holders are increasing their exposure, suggesting a shift in market sentiment. Both on-chain metrics and technical analysis point to growing bullish momentum for ETH.
Short-Term Holders Boost ETH Supply Share
Addresses that typically hold Ethereum for one week to one month have expanded their share of the total ETH supply from 6.9% on July 22 to 9.19% on August 21. Similarly, holders in the one-day to one-week category grew from 1.64% to 2.74% over a two-week perioda 67% rise. These increases highlight renewed interest from participants who often lead market moves.
- Short-term investors are usually among the first to act on perceived opportunities.
- Rising activity among these groups often signals a shift in sentiment.
On-Chain Metrics Reflect Shifting Sentiment
The Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) tracks whether coins on the move are sold at a profit or loss. A recent dip in ETH's SOPR from 1.11 to 1.03 suggests profit-taking is cooling and that sellers may be weakening. This trend mirrors a prior instance when a SOPR drop preceded a significant price rebound. In late July, a similar SOPR decline was followed by a 31% rally in ETH prices.
Chart Patterns Indicate Possible Reversal
The 4-hour Ethereum price chart is currently forming an inverse head and shoulders pattern, commonly viewed as a bullish reversal setup. The chart patterns neckline is near $4,379. If ETH surpasses $4,443, the pattern's technical target is estimated at $4,770. The Bull Bear Power indicator also shows increased bullish momentum.
- Confirmation of the pattern could strengthen positive market sentiment.
- However, invalidation at $4,207 would weaken the bullish outlook.
Outlook Remains Conditional
While on-chain and technical signals point to renewed strength among short-term traders, further gains are contingent on ETH sustaining key support levels. Market participants should continue monitoring wallet activity, SOPR movements, and major price thresholds to gauge the strength of any emerging trend.
