Republic to Offer Tokenized Animoca Brands Equity on Solana
Republic, a real-world asset (RWA) tokenization company, has announced plans to tokenize equity in Animoca Brands, a major Web3 investment firm based in Hong Kong. The move is set to provide broader investor access to Animoca Brands, which is not publicly listed but has backed over 600 projects in the Web3 sector.
Expanded Access Through Solana-Based Tokenization
The tokenized Animoca Brands equity will be issued on the Solana blockchain, according to Republic�s Tuesday release. Once minted, these tokens will be distributed to participating investors� wallets. The assets will become available for trading on Republic�s infrastructure.
Andrew Durgee, co-CEO of Republic, said the arrangement demonstrates a new model for corporate equity structuring. Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, noted that this development enables retail investors to access opportunities that were previously limited to private markets.
Context: RWA Tokenization Gains Momentum
The announcement comes amid growing interest in RWA tokenization within the crypto industry. Recent initiatives from firms such as BlackRock and VanEck have further merged traditional finance and blockchain by launching tokenized funds and stablecoin off-ramps.
Animoca Brands� Strategic Expansion
Animoca Brands' adoption of equity tokenization is in line with its recent expansion efforts. The company has made several investments and launched partnerships in the Web3 space, positioning itself as a notable industry player. Earlier in the month, Animoca Brands participated in a funding round for the Bio Protocol platform and formed a new partnership with Ibex Japan, the innovation arm of Antler.
The tokenization initiative is also seen as a strategy to attract additional capital. Animoca Brands continues to pursue new methods for facilitating investment and increasing accessibility to its equity during its ongoing growth.
