Bitcoin Argentina Launches Fifth PremioBArte Art Contest

The non-profit organization Bitcoin Argentina has opened the call for entries for the fifth edition of PremioBArte, its annual contest celebrating Bitcoins cultural and societal impact. This years event focuses on Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin.

Satoshi Nakamoto Monument Takes Center Stage

The 2024 edition emphasizes a new category: the Monument to Satoshi Nakamoto. The winning sculpture will be installed in Buenos Aires, potentially within the Innovation Parka hub established in 2016 for entrepreneurs, students, and technology researchers. Alternative public locations across the city are also under consideration.

Multiple Categories, Open Participation

The competition features three main categories:

  • Physical Art
  • Digital Art
  • Sculpture Project for the Satoshi Monument

Physical and digital art categories are open to participants from across Ibero-America. The monument category focuses on projects designed for public spaces in Buenos Aires. The contest welcomes solo artists and collectives, and submissions are free.

Jury and Prizes

The jury includes Rodolfo Andragnes, founder of Bitcoin Argentina; cypherpunk advocate Gus Grillasca; Ezequiel Canle, COO of Parque de Innovacin; Uruguayan crypto artist Sazkiabella; Joey Garca, CEO of Xapo Bank; and Aida Pippo, project leader at PremioBArte.

Winners will receive awards in Bitcoin and USD:

  • First place in the Monument category: USD 2,000
  • Second place (Monument): USD 500
  • Physical Art: USD 500
  • Digital Art: USD 500

The winning monument project will also access additional budget for final construction. Prizes will be distributed at an in-person closing event in Buenos Aires in November, where winning works will be exhibited and announced publicly.

Contest Details and Goals

Since 2021, PremioBArte has attracted around 1,400 artists, seeking to highlight Bitcoins influence through art. Organizers encourage new and veteran creators to inspire broader participation in the region's Bitcoin ecosystem with a focus on cultural engagement.

Submissions are open until October 1. Full contest guidelines are available on the official PremioBArte website, and inquiries can be directed via the organizations email.
