Bitcoin's Market Correction Faces Mixed Analyst Reactions
Bitcoin's recent price decline has raised questions about whether the market is experiencing a standard correction or the start of a deeper downturn. Analysts from both traditional finance and onchain research groups have provided differing perspectives based on current market data and historical trends.
Traditional and Onchain Analyst Views Diverge
Concerns over Bitcoins potential for further losses surfaced after a traditional finance analyst projected that the cryptocurrency could lose almost 50% of its value if its downward momentum continues. Mike McGlone, a Bloomberg Intelligence analyst, wrote on X that Bitcoin reaching $100,000 might simply mark a 'speed bump toward $56,000.' McGlone explained that Bitcoin has a history of reverting to its 48-month moving average, which currently stands around $56,000, following extended rallies such as those seen in 2025.
Contrasting with this outlook, onchain analytics firm Glassnode pointed to key market indicators suggesting a less severe cycle than in previous downturns. In its market report, Glassnode noted that Bitcoins Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratio has declined to levels that have previously marked local bottoms. The firm also highlighted the Relative Unrealized Loss metric a gauge of investor losses relative to Bitcoins total market capitalization. According to Glassnode, the current value at 3.1% remains below levels seen in the 20222023 bear market and is in line with moderate corrections recorded in the latter parts of 2024 and 2025. Previous more extreme market stress events pushed this metric above the 5% threshold.
Price Activity and Market Sentiment
On November 4, Bitcoin briefly dropped below the $100,000 level for the first time in over four months. The move was seen as a key psychological event. Bitcoin has since recorded a modest recovery, trading at $101,380 at the time of this writing, according to CoinMarketCap.
Yet, predictions remain mixed within the investment community. Vineet Budki, CEO of Sigma Capital, recently suggested a potential 65% retracement for Bitcoin.
Long-Term Projections Adjusted
Alongside short-term uncertainty, some industry figures are re-evaluating their long-term outlooks. Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, adjusted her prior forecast, reducing her 2030 price target for Bitcoin by $300,000. Wood cited stablecoins growing adoption as a factor eroding Bitcoins role as a store of value, particularly in emerging markets.
As analysts debate Bitcoins near-term direction, broader sentiment remains divided. While some indicators suggest a routine correction, caution persists over the possibility of deeper market losses.
