Bitcoin Eyes New Price Milestones Amid Institutional Interest

Bitcoin may be on track to set a new all-time high of $150,000 before the end of 2025, according to Charles Edwards, founder of Capriole Investments. Edwards made the comments during an interview at Token2049 in Singapore, citing growing investor moves toward safe-haven assets like Bitcoin and gold.

Institutional Investment Seen as Key Driver

Edwards said that Bitcoins recovery above the $120,000 psychological level could trigger a rapid breakout to higher prices. 'I wouldnt be surprised if we went up to $150,000 in a pretty short time, like we have to break out of the $120,000 range. But thats probably coming, potentially in the next days,' Edwards told Cointelegraph.

The price of Bitcoin climbed more than 6% in the past week, surpassing $118,500 for the first time since August 15, according to market data. Edwards described his $150,000 prediction as conservative, noting that other analysts expect the current bull cycle to lift Bitcoin beyond $200,000.

Potential for Significant Capital Inflows

Andr Dragosch, Head of European Research at Bitwise Asset Management, also highlighted Bitcoins upward potential. Dragosch told Cointelegraph that if retirement managers devote just 1% of their portfolios to Bitcoin, it could introduce $122 billion in new capital to the market and potentially drive the price above $200,000 by year-end.

Market Cycles and Technical Patterns

Edwards noted a 'just over 50%' chance that the crypto market will see three positive months to close the year. He referenced the ongoing relevance of the markets four-year cycle theory, suggesting cyclical trends remain a factor as investors de-risk. However, he cautioned that institutional buying is the main catalyst, and a shift in sentiment could alter his outlook.

Historical data supports Edwards perspective. According to CoinGlass, Bitcoin has averaged monthly gains of 20% in October, 46% in November, and 4% in December during past cycles. Some analysts are also watching chart indicators, such as the emerging golden cross pattern, which points to continued bullish momentum into the fourth quarter.

Looking Ahead

While future price targets vary among analysts, most agree that institutional participation and traditional market trends will play major roles in the coming months. Bitcoins price performance in late 2024 and early 2025 is expected to be influenced by both macroeconomic trends and market cycles.
